Paul Blest This Turnpike Never Ends
this winter's been a blight on my attitude
a blanket of snow and ice.
the hard ground is cold and isn't warming up soon,
i won't be getting any sleep tonight.
on the wall you'll find pictures from better days
from a time long since past.
but right now we're playing in a basement filled up with kids,
the few best friends we have left.
but don't worry now, things will get better one way or another.
i know the lump, and i know the unsettled stomach.
trust me you're not alone.
i've had anxiety shake me by the bones and make me question my state of mind.
losing a friend isn't the end of the world, you'll find that out in due time.
and tomorrow i'm making my way, in a loop up around massachussetts.
to play a few shows out of my state, i'll keep this together some way.
i won't worry now, things are getting better one f..cking way or another.
i know the lump, and i know the unsettled stomach.
i know i'm not alone.
truth is, hearts are harder to break. and holding onto one is harder yet still.
our brittle bones, they ache and pain, but we can push over these hills.
and tomorrow i'll be on my way home, three hours from back to wilmington.
and jersey's never seemed so long, i've never felt this way before.
