they thought it was a joke, had a laugh, they called me the neo-luddite fool
this debilitating technology it was no threat at all
i stared up at the peak i couldn’t reach ‘was out of breath my knees were weak
electric stairs once took me there but now i’m on my own
i thought of the people i could call but only conjured a list of names
the codes to carry out my voice i just could not recall
so i cried out for anyone anyone that could hear
if i wasn’t deaf i realized now i had no voice at all
is it getting easier to live and breathe
they’ll do it for you if you feel the need
beware of everything convenience breeds
as i walked down the endless aisles of cravings and prepackaged goods
wondering which will be consumed and which will be tossed away
i reached for a new piece of the sky with half-chewed pieces at my feet
without a thought i let ‘em rot cause there was more to take
