I watch you from a distance. You look so familiar. I see m former self in you. You wear your innocence like a new suit, begging to be stained, soiled, and torn by what you've yet to learn. I watch you like an old film of myself, sheltered and beautiful in your naivety. But it won't last. You're headed for a fall, an ugly understanding. I watch you from the background. You look so familiar. You give your trust to your peers without scrutiny. You will learn the hard way. (Isn't that the only way we ever do?) Your faith will be beaten, stomped, kicked, and thrown back at you. I watch you like an old film of myself, sheltered and beautiful in your naivety. But it won't last long. You're headed for a fall, a painful understanding. YOU will watch their honor come and go, fleeting and transient. They were all just tourists in your life. But you will learn a valuable lesson: trust is not without its price. You look so familiar. I was just like you.
