Deserter Lyrics

Go It Alone Deserter

In the endless white lines of the interstate, in fading small town facades and the weathered red brick walls of grimy alleyways. In open fields at night and city streets, dusty train yards in the summer heat, I found a space to breathe in a world that was suffocating me. So I left everything behind, just another young man with a restless mind and a wanderlust in his eyes. A whetted appetite for life, a lucid desire for experience. Seventeen years spent standing in line for a life that I didn't want. I knew I had to get out, my mind was rotting away, "I swear to god, this place is killing me!" I had to make a clean break from the self imposed atrophy of incessant routine. So I left everything behind, just another young man with a restless mind and wanderlust in his eyes. The lights are blinking out one by one. I don't know just what I'm looking for or what I'm running from, but I gotta go.
