For the final time, he gazed down at his empire Carcasses laughing, emblazoned in fire With the blue sky fading and pestilence crawled Seas of blood, surged forth from those walls
The sepulchre lay waiting, where many would fold The walls laid in sapphires, gilded with gold With an eager demeanour he lay himself in And took a last breath of a world laced in sin
With body succumbing to the rigours of time The knell drawing nearer, off four walls death chimed But cosmic intervention meant his soul burned fierce Fuelled by the crimsons and saffrons of the phoenix within
Closing his eyes, the old ones grinned With the knowledge that bloodline had heeded their call And summoned the apocalypse to swallow the world
