The Industrial Estate Lyrics

Beans On Toast The Industrial Estate

I never lifted a finger in my life
But that don't mean I was born with a spoon in my mouth
In fact, I had a cigarette and a job at the factory
While driving around in a transit van, building conservatories

But I learned some lessons young on the industrial estate
About how much my time was worth
And how much money I could make
Fifteen years old on a minimum wage
Trying to make it change
Well, I did every shitty job you've never heard of
From the dust cart to the frozen factory line
And I've poured a few pints around the city
I tell you, man, I'vе had my share of mine

I learnеd that if you do what you do with love
Well then, you'll soon love what you do
And if a job's worth doing, then
It's worth doing properly or it's not worth doing it at all
And she was true to her word
Only boring people get bored

I heard about these jobs they have in offices
And how the people travel there in droves
And they spend all day staring at computers
What they do, don't think I'll ever know

But an honest man will never trust a banker
Oh, they're the evil villains of our time
And sometimes, I can't help but wonder
How they even get to sleep at night

Drowning in the full of their possessions
Making a living screwing someone else
You can't tell me they don't have repercussions
Or that it doesn't come at a cost
I learned that if you do what you do with love
Well then, you'll soon love what you do
And if a job's worth doing, then
It's worth doing properly or it's not worth doing it at all
And she was true to her word
Only boring people get bored

I always thought that one day in the future
With science and some new technology
That we'd all have to work a lot less often
Spend more time with our friends and family

But it doesn't look like that is gonna happen
In fact, they've got a completely different plan
It's almost like they're making up these bullshit jobs
Just to keep us working for the man

But if we lose our job satisfaction
Then what else are we but slaves
Waking up every morning and
Ignoring the invisible chains

I learned that if you do what you do with love
Well then, you'll soon love what you do
And if a job's worth doing, then
It's worth doing properly or it's not worth doing it at all
And she was true to her word
Only boring people get bored
