6:58 in a dream
start the day with a bell and I'm half-awake
the shock of the light in my eyes
blurs the morning well into the time between
the birdsongs and sirens, the sounds and the signs
free from the chains of last night's headache
I begin to see the day for all it is
and up from the underground
I am transformed by the dizzy scene
the birdsongs and sirens, the sound
and the harder you try to see
the less you can find and you're mesmerized
for the things that you see in your dreams
won't hold when you're half-awake
wipe the sleep from your eyes
locked in the spaces between
the secrets are trapped in the atmosphere
and not without breaking away
can I have a glimpse of the surface
on the sidelines, the street beat
the sound
and the harder you try to see
the less you can find and you're mesmerized
for the things that you see in your dreams
won't hold when you're half-awake
