Today We Fly Give Me A Sunrise
Life hanging by a thread
I emerge from the depths
afraid to look around as I lift my head.
An endless plain of salted blue
is all that stares back at me,
a dead weight upon the open sea.
With sore eyes, bloody hands
broken bones, and torn flesh,
someone please lift the weight off my chest.
These crashing waves rip the clothes from off my back,
my will to live along with it,
buried in the sand.
Clashing titans hold me back,
deprive me of escape.
The taunting sea won’t let me leave
so drown me in this grave.
Hours turn to days
and my internal clock will no longer tick,
I ask myself "why was I the only to survive?"
Maybe today will be the day
that the wind will blow my way
and wash me up on to those old familiar shores.
The vision of you
is buried into my skull;
it's all I have to keep me in control.
You're all my mind can find the time
to wrap itself around,
the epitome of everything
that I have come to be.
Hoping the stars will light the path
that will guide me home,
take me back to the one I love
more that life itself.
