Cold & mercy-bound?
Lulled by common kind?
I slipped one more to trip the way;
I dreamt the sky was shallow ground.
Our August moon was hard this time--
one deep mother of a valley through the night.
I wonder if I'd missed that scene,
where we'd be left to lie?
But, I stumbled onto grace & speed,
blinked, & it was over me.
The phone goes when we're weak & warm
(clouded calls & careful storms).
Honey, hold your flame, so. Still
w / years to mine & nights to shore,
if I ever leave this 10-day room,
I'll send my shallow ground to you.
