Father, you are older than me
and in many ways you are wise
But all of my life it's hurt to see
The sadness in your eyes
And I know that your life has been hard
And you struggled to do your best
Now I want you to share the love I've found
And give your poor heart a rest
And He'll draw close to you
If you'd only ask him to

Mother, I could never forget
Your laughter and your worried tears
And all of the loving things you did
To help me through those painful years
And I know when you've given your heart
Life has often been unkind
But turning away you just might miss
The love you've waited years to find
And He'll draw close to you
If you'd only ask Him to
Let Him wash away the bitterness and fear
You'll see He's here
Dear brother, I remember the days
When I'd tag along to play
And all of the childish angry things
We never really meant to say
And I know that those boys have grown up
And we'll never play those games again
And that's why I hope you'll understand
And listen to me as a friend
