you gave me a brief glance, devoid of expression, as you walked out the door
and i just stood there disbelieving, but all the while knowing
that you could not find any reason to stay with me one minute more

when i have been there for you, there for you through thick and thin
and how could you one day suddenly say you were too tired of trying
you tell me there’s no use denying it, there’s simply no other way
now with every confidence broken and every vow unfulfilled
