Little Wings Scratchers
A guy walks into the liquor store
With his new paycheck. What for?
To buy some scratchers
I'm so busy working at this liquor store
Ask him what he's come in here for
He gives me the news
He says he wants seven greens and three blues
I watch him raise his last time
Into the air
Scratching like he just doesn't care
And then I saw those tickets later that night
Soggy with dew
Right outside the bar where he went to follow you
Once, twice, three times even
Like a familiar wind
That blew right through
A girl and her dad
Go to the grocery store
It's almost Halloween
They try to stick a mess of the twenties
Into the pumpkin carving machine
And then they choose from one of four faces on the screen
When they got the pumpkin home
Its face looked so mean
