This is a song that, uh, I wrote in England the first time I went there, and uh
Somebody had lent me a place to stay
And uh, it was a rock star, that I
I didn't really know, but somebody I knew, knew
And he had a house, and it wasn't his house either, it was just a rented
It was a really posh rented place
And I know it wasn't his place 'cause it had all kinds of ancient artifacts
And, and really beautifully lit cabinets, you know
So you know it wasn't Stephen Stills' house, it was just, you know
And uh, Stills was the first guy that I ever met that had, like, you know
So many guitars he needed like
A wholе separate truck to carry them around in, you know
And I thought it was
Just about thе most decadent thing I'd ever heard of, you know
But uh
The truth is I really didn't understand then about guitars
Anyway, whoever knew Stephen that arranged for me to stay there
Didn't know that he'd already lent it to this really
This great girl that I also knew from California
So I got into this beautiful house and I could stay in for free
With nothing much to do
And then there was this amazing girl in it
And this song, I wrote this song for her
It was just one of those magic times
I mean, it would, when you knew it was not gonna last forever
But it was, you know
It was gonna be like forever, actually, you know
For about a week
