Ides Of Winter The Cinder Kingdom
A mortar lair filled with spiders
And a mistress dissolved of pride.
Behind the walls the jealous daughters
Suppress poor Cendron’s light.
They bring her gold, they hide the silver
And they offer her pain.
They place their lies on one another
Her markings masquerade their shame.
On and on, but at dawn, their world will fall apart.
They haunt her and she’s sorry.
Dragged from afar her abandoned heart followed a spider home.
They broke her and she’s sorry only embers remained when she walked away.
And she prayed into the dark. Prayed for relief.
Prayed…to the stone beneath her knees.
She prayed to the sun. Prayed for disease.
Prayed…when their ashes filled the streets.
The woods confessed, and she returned
For a single thread the spider spun.
The foolish girls stood their ground
And chose to melt into the sun.
On and on, now it’s dawn, their world falls apart.
