Les Cathedrales Lyrics

Fireballet Les Cathedrales

Lost at birth, during a Viking siege on the castle home
Without a trace, swept into the nordic night
The babe who would wear the crown
The search for years, naught to be found eremore

A deathbad tale, and a cost of arms on a childhood wrap
Returned to home, returned to claim the crown
To answer coronations call
A king to be loved by one and all

But all were not jubilant at this now king's coronation
The prime minister and council had long been lining their pockets
With the gold of the crown's treasury, a practice they were assuredly
Not quick to want co curb. Hushed whispers in the castle corridors
Secret meetings late at night, and finally their plotting was finished

Tarry not...T'is time to leave the books in dust
Oil unused armours rust
Paint the sable skies blood red
Our plans as traitors be conspiracy!

So even as the boy king knelt in prayer in the confines
Of the chapel tower, he could little know or even suspect
The treachery being plotted against him in the chambers far below
Awakened from his slumber and whisked away through ancient castle
Passages just moments before his chambers were breached by the conspirators
The boy-king took to horse..and, as sentinel stars set their heavenly watch
Speed over the countryside, his destination, the church at Madelmes

Father I have lost my way
Strayed from thy flock
Now twilight nears
My journey ends
Is there sanctuary for me here?

Mortality, behold and fear
As king and dust are equals made
There be no armour against crooked scythe and spade

The glories of our blood and state
Live on through time, though memories die
Best let it road
Though God he was, as a man he died
