The darkness was vague, but decipherable, and I starred
at the clock radio

at my bedroom door
And the dim outlines it made
On into the kitchen I fade
Where all the bottles and cans are out of the cupboards
Litte whores in a bed of stains and crumbs
Well they whispered and they called me sailor
In livid sticky little graveyards
And my eyes turn to the windows of the door
That divided my world into something manageable
So its over now
All your running round
All your friends
When you're not around
They say this is it
Well you know it never is
So my shoes hit the street and ice and snow
And my soles scuff the sleet and salt and stone
You know all our leaves where weeping there
Like little fish gasping for air and climbing
Into lonely little piles trying to reach the surface
Persistent but ignorant
And I realized we are no different
All of us here on the ground
Ghosts of summer unaware we've drown
