in the years we stayed the course
of two hundred years before
a future was in place
still tied to everything
to the family
to the way
a life led simply could be played
when a simple man was taken away
although his spirit still holds court
inside my heart i can cannot forge
ahead the way i would like
to stand tall with my love by my side
in the acreage of my youth
where we could sing our happy tunes
where nobody tends to go

and practices that i had hoped to understand

isolation from the fray

the generation rife with disappointing heights
and the undeserving pride they all seem to invite

i think about the plans

to be rid of all this stuff
replacing every worried thought
