Black Widow Old Man
He walks a lonely road, looking at the wayside
The trees, the leaves, the bushes in the sun
With his hand raised, he'd stare and look at me from where
He was born many years ago
Now he slowly walks toward me, my admiration for him tells me
There's something mystic deep inside
He stands before me, smiling, his eyes squint with his aging
I find it hard to say the words I feel
In the summer, we'd go down to the river's hunting ground
And watch the world go by, such lazy days
With his fishing pole and line, he'd search with eyes that shine
For the silent life that glides beneath the water
Stand beside him, wondering why people seem to spurn him
He needs to be respected, can't they see?
With my hand on his shoulder, he's a man, so much older
I say to him with tears in my eyes
I say "Old man, you look so fine and grand
You look so wise, I see it in your eyes
Old man, please take my hand

The stories he has told of him in days of old
Make my life seem tame and unreal
He remembers the wars, the poverty they caused
He lost his home and most of his possessions
Oh but now it's in the past, he waits until at last
He can leave us all to carry on
"I hope in years to come, I have left for some
Half the tales" he tells me here today
