Everyone said you’d change my life.
They were right everything changed.
Everyone said I’d be surprised and I was surprised that labor day.
Everyone said how tired I’d be.
They said I’d get no sleep when you come.
But everyone knows the way things are.
Its goodbye heart, hello son.
Everyone dreams about this life and so did I everyday.
Now everyone says we look alike.
They say you’ve got my eyes and my name.
So every night I lay you down to bed and try to sing your tired eyes to sleep.
I think of all the changes still ahead and thank the Lord for giving you to me.
For everything gained, all we’ve lost is just a small sacrifice.
Everyone said I’d love you more than anything in this world and they were right.
