The Wombats are taking their first album back on the road next April. Today’s announcement gives A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation ten UK and European dates for its twentieth anniversary. There is a clear plan for the set: the debut in full during the first half, then songs from the band’s other albums after that.
That should answer one question for anyone booking mainly to hear the 2007 record. You are not relying on a handful of its singles making the cut. “Moving to New York,” “Kill the Director” and “Let’s Dance to Joy Division” belong to that album, but the promise covers the whole sequence. The later songs have not been named individually.

It is an appealing way to bring two groups of fans into the same room. Some were there for the debut; others may have found The Wombats much later. One half gives the first group their album. The other can remind both groups that the band carried on writing. We would be careful about expecting a particular later favourite, though. “Selection” still leaves choices to be made.
Paris gets the opening night at Le Trianon on April 1. The mainland route takes in Cologne on April 3, Berlin on April 4 and Munich on April 5, before Amsterdam’s Gashouder on April 7 and Antwerp’s Trix the following day. The Snuts are the support named for these six concerts.
Manchester starts the UK leg at O2 Victoria Warehouse on April 10. Glasgow follows at O2 Academy on April 13, then London at O2 Academy Brixton on April 16. Cherryholt are marked for all three; London also has Abbie McCarthy’s DJ set. Those are details to check if the opening acts matter to your choice of city.
Liverpool has a different billing. The final announced show, April 18 at Arts Club, is described as a special hometown underplay and lists Filip Clements. The UK poster uses symbols to separate the support slots. It is easy to read a group of names at the bottom and assume they all travel together; here, they do not.
A full-album promise is also different from a concert that happens to fall near a release. We looked at that distinction in the Fontaines D.C. Roundhouse benefit report: the date alone did not settle what they would play. The Wombats have specified the debut from start to finish. Beyond that, there is room for surprises, but no need to invent them. Ten dates are on the published route, ending at home in Liverpool. If the first album is the reason you want to go, the announcement tells you exactly where it fits in the night.
