The Chemical Brothers will close Open’er’s Orange Main Stage on July 1, 2027, returning 25 years after they headlined the festival’s first edition. Ellie Goulding, 5 Seconds of Summer, Adéla and underscores have also joined the bill. Announced on October 8, the additions give the four-day Polish festival a clearer shape, with dates already assigned to the new names.

The festival runs from June 30 to July 3 at Gdynia-Kosakowo Airfield. Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons headlined its first edition in 2002; next summer they return to close Thursday’s main-stage programme. That is a long span between bookings. The duo shares the announcement with pop performers from a much younger generation, so this year’s early bill gives visitors more than one era to explore.

That matters when reading the poster. A festival can promise nostalgia and discovery at once; whether a visitor gets both depends on which day they attend. Goulding and The Chemical Brothers are not playing on the same date. Buying for one familiar name won’t necessarily put another favourite within reach.

Where the new acts fit

  • Thursday, July 1: The Chemical Brothers and 5 Seconds of Summer are assigned to Orange Main Stage, alongside the previously announced Sombr.
  • Friday, July 2: Adéla joins The Neighbourhood on the main-stage programme.
  • Saturday, July 3: Ellie Goulding joins RAYE on Orange Main Stage, while underscores is listed for Alter Stage.

These are day and stage assignments, rather than a finished running order. The Chemical Brothers have been confirmed to close their stage, but the announcement doesn’t give a complete timetable for everyone else. Fans hoping to move between stages should keep that distinction in mind. An act appearing on Saturday’s bill is not yet proof that it can be seen without missing another set.

Thursday already offers a useful example of the festival’s range. Patti Smith Quartet is booked for Tent Stage that day. Across those stages, the programme connects a long-established rock songwriter, contemporary pop and an electronic closing set. It gives curious listeners several possible routes through the same evening, although exact times will decide which routes actually work.

If you found one of these acts through a playlist and are thinking about a first festival visit, our feature on music discovery and concert culture looks at that next step. For Open’er, start with the day you want. Thursday has the anniversary return. Friday has Adéla; Saturday has Goulding and underscores. The details already published let you make that comparison. Leave the hour-by-hour route until the running order arrives.
