A lamp swaying in the wind
Seen one night from a passing train
Out of the corner of my eye
I was lying barely half awake
Men and women in a circle
Outlined faces on a dark landscape
Around the lamp they gather
This lamp swaying in the wind

We catch it off the roof
Catch it in our hands
Sun so hot by day
By night the cool moon overhead
Tribal dances of ancient days
Call the sky to bring the rain
Gather under the boab tree
Symbol of life there beneath
Around the lamp they gather
Australian aborigines
