I deliver the mail in the morning
Where there ain't no telephone lines
And I'm walking with a bag full of letters
Come what may around the same time
The last little house on the dirt road
Always feels so special to me
I get nervous as I walk to the mailbox
Where the angled letters read « Mrs Judy »
My thoughts were running wild and time was slowing
When I'd see her smile behind the screen door
So I still walk to her house every morning
But Judy doesn't live there anymore
Always wondered if I'd got past the mailbox
Would she let me past the screen door
Would I still be seeing her in the morning

The weeds have grown and covered up the windows
They nailed a board across the front door
I should have left some flowers in the mailbox
