Liffengren) I just got off the phone today With a good friend of mine She mentioned something bout her family And having a real good time Wouldn't it be great to see them Wouldn't it be great to be with them But I had my own plans for this is my life I thought about all the words That were shared between the two of us For a moment I paused then I realized If she gives into me, it would be great for my reason Instead I could sacrifice, just a little bit of my time If there's one thing that I've learned over the years Without sacrifice - there isn't love If a side of me just won't give in And I'd rather be on my own Than I'd never grow, I'd never know Sacrifice - Sacrifice I heard somebody say, to get love You gotta give it away And I felt something tugging at my heart that day I knew I should pick up the phone And tell her that I'd go along When I did, she thanked me, now I wrote this song... I once read about a man Who gave of himself to the very end He sacrificed His life for you and me I wanna learn to be like Him And give love instead of taking it in For it's better to give than to receive I still believe, in sacrifice
