Many great men have
Walked the hallowed halls
Of Indiana University
Some have said that no man
Has walked as tall
As this basketball coaching
Legend...
Come gather round my Hoosier kin,
A tale for one and all
about a man who some may say,
"He built assembly hall!"
From player to a teacher
'round a legend born and bred,
His shadow walks near seven foot,
His sweater's claoked in red!
Elevent Big Ten titles
To his credit
He has won.
Leading Hoosier basketball
since 1971!
Three great years he's crowned the teams
And took them all the way,
And made us proud in '84
With gold for U S A!
Isaiah Thomas, Calbert Chaney, Ken Benson as well,
All great men who started here
And learned how to excel
With fourteen players tall and lean
And help from Pat, his son,
He coaches and inspires
To make IU number one!

Leads our boys into a war
To conquer the Big Ten
For Bobby will fight
Bob the tyrant, with his fire,
Will win it all again
Indiana University, founded in 1820,
On the banks of the mighty Jordan River.
Known for its world class academics,
Championship caliber athletics,
And its total lack of identifiable mascot!
It is home to over ninety thousand students
Hundreds of academic buildings
Ten members of Straight No Chaser,
But only one Bob Knight!
His winning ways have caused some fans
Up north to be upset
Headaches all around for the folks in Lafayette!
Coach Keady is the villain,
But you must feel for Purdue
'cause you would hate, if in your state,
You're always number two!
Right to the win
This man has been
A referee's nightmare
With staredowns that would chill the soul
Or heaving out a chair
Some coaches cheat just to compete
But that's not Bobby's plan,
His kids grow straight, they graduate
A tribute to the man!

May not be a perfect man,
But no one's free of sin!
A Hoosier birthright!
He'll still wise-crack,
But cut some slack and
Let Ol' Bobby win!
Right to the win his tempers spin,
But no more Mister Hyde,
Jekell's grin must follow him,
Or he won't be courtside.
So Hoosier pride come to his side,
Our coach deserves a fight.
He'll see it all, and still stand tall
And lead with all his might,
'cause he is Bobby Knight!
