I said let's ditch these thrill ridesyou haven't smiled
since we lost the sun
just a few more red tickets
till this carnival has lost all it's fun
as we left we watched tents from a distance set fire,
and they burned burned down
from here we were safe from the sparks, but I told her
to run
she grabbed me by the arm, and kissed me like, 'what do
you mean?'
I said 'i think I should stay here
i just can't abandon this scene.'
she said 'it still might be home, however, only home
sometimes, you can't stay here'
I said, 'if you're not with me, then why don't you
leave.'
'cause sometimes I get so caught up in a wave of
disgust
in myself
that I can't help but feel like a scare you away with
the way
that I feel
i'll continue to push you away, in all hope that you
won't feel chained.
