I need to find a place,
Where I can rest my mind,
From this world that just can't wait,
Chasin' artificial time,
Yes I need to find a homestead,
Where you can leave an open gate,
And the world won't fall and crumble,
If you should roll up late.
I need to see some river gums that man has left alone,
In some quiet peaceful valley where the trees will
shade my home,
And I'll be back with mother nature,
So often it's been told,
I'm the mother bush that loves you,
Come to me when you are old.
On the big old front verandah,
I'll just sing along and strum,
And throw away this time piece,
An' take my bearings from the sun,
And then later in the ev'nin',
When the world is half awake,
I'll see the glory of the bushland.
When the big moon comes up late.
I need to see some river gums that man has left alone,
