A big mob of cockatoos, frightened from their tree
Looks like it is snowing, blowing gently ‘cross the breeze
A cocky cries behind, don’t leave me way back here
I’m gonna melt beneath this sun, I’m going to beat you to the trees.
A big old gum starts swaying, my arms are getting thin,
You birds have stripped me naked, my shade’s not what it’s been.
What good am I to you, if you can’t rest beneath my shade
So you can watch the world pass by, under the shelter that I’ve made.
Well I don’t mind, and I thank you
Long time since I’ve seen you gum, or heard you cockatoo
Never felt so good, or so alive
So thank you for your little shade and the snow in mid July
I need your shade some more, that sunset’s never late
I can’t believe how time just flies, just suddenly got away
What is this all about ? What makes a blue sky blue ?
And why does that cocky tease you gum, why does he bother you?
