Safe To Say Dead Birds
Damp and cold, shivering inside a broken nest.
Branches bending all of your promises.
Folded wings pinned back, a lifetime spent here with a lack of warmth
And steady air.
Leaving home. abandon you to fly out on my own to face this simple hell.
It's sad to say I know it all to well.
Broken nests meet starving birds, when I have yet to think of words
For thanking you.
I'm feeling empty on the inside knowing things are sure to change,
Shelter sharing feathers in the rain.
