I took a bus out to Sag harbor
found me a still and quiet place
into the woods to play some notes on my guitar
and think of things I can’t erase
I’m affected in a meaningful way
I never expected it to be that way
I hope that you can be here and stay
I dont even understand these days
As the ocean breeze gets cold I think of indecisiveness
And how its actions are so sudden
I dont want to just be the guy
who filled all of the requirements
Sometimes in late July
I lie awake at night
or dream of ships blown in the wind

there is much more than this life
can’t you feel it in your skin
I watched the breeze come over the bay
I played some quiet chords
I thought about how much your life has changed
And the ever fighting shore
Are you affected in a meaningful way?
Do you expect it to be that way ?
Do you hope that you can be here and stay?
Do you even understand these days?
