Casino six nights a week
Drinking whiskey and cokes and gambling
Only home on nights when his stomach would burn
He'd lay in the dark, drink peppermint schnapps and wait it out
His sister called at 4 am and said there was an emergency
and that they should meet at the Gold and Silver
He saw her in the parking lot her kid sitting in the back seat
"Aren't you gonna let her in?" he asked
"It's an emergency," she said and left her in the car

money from her purse, set it on the table, and got up and left
