When I first saw them standing all pale-faced and scared
With bodies just trembling and eyes that just stared
I thought I would go up and behave like a priest
Speak of redemption or just say the least
And they never moved
When I joined them a little later they didn't think I was new

I saw a few jaws clench when I mentioned your name

And the second one was flailing preparing to die
The one just before me turning his head
Said: you best say a prayer son ’cause soon you’ll be dead
But they never moved

Seeing your ghost there running through the dead bodies
Averting your eyes from the mess that you made
And reaching me tired looking into my cold eyes
You just flinched at my question
Do you now feel betrayed?
