Video Game Lyrics

Mouth's Cradle Video Game

I jump around keep making mistakes
I fall on my face
Oh but it doesn't hurt cause I'm in the TV
And I keep thinking I should call you
But what I should do
Is a new concept that is terrifying me
Like facing hordes of scary monsters
To quest for wonders
That go away as soon as I get up to stretch
But I was having a good time, babe
I hope that I saved
Because I'd hate to find that I got nothing left

I hole myself up in my basement
Cause I can't face it
Because I never know just what will happen next
I never use none of those cheat codes
I'm packing heat, though
That doesn't mean I'm necessarily correct
But it could mean that I'm a winner
Or a beginner
But probability says somewhere in between
I hope that you don't pick the phone up
Cause I'll get choked up
Cause I can never say exactly what I mean
I wish that love was like a video game
And that no matter how I played it it would turn out the same but
I'll grab my helmet and get back in my car
Went for whatever I could get but didn't get very far and

[Hook]
You know that I would turn 'em off
You know that I would turn 'em off
If I could have you back again

I duck and cover like I'm dodging
To flee the watchmen
Who patrol the city that I gotta save
But I can't hide from accusations
So please be patient
Or else I'll send myself into an early grave
From all the worrying I'm doing
Okay so you win
I'm not a liar - I admire your technique
Cause all my favorite games are violent
But you're just silent
And still could quite easily knock me off my feet

I wish that love was like a videogame
And that no matter how I played it it would turn out the same but
I'll take my tunic off and pocket the sword
Because the stuff I found exciting is just making me bored and
[Hook]
And won't you come into my world
And won't you let me be your toy
And won't you play me like a fool
Your half-robotic boy

I think that I've come to my senses
And my defenses
Don't have a need to be on anything but low
It wasn't nice of me to restart
Or play with your heart
No
Oh but I think I learned my lesson
So keep me guessing
Because I've come to like that spontaneity
And so I'll take you out this evening
My face is beaming
Oh, what's become of me?

I'm glad that love ain't like a video game
Because no matter how I played it it would turn out the same and
It's nice to go outside and look at the sun
And realize I made my living out of just having fun and
You know that I would turn 'em off [x4]
If I could have you back again
