“Politicians”
I must have been mistaken
The strong are overcome by weaknesses
I can not explain
With every stride that’s taken
We make two steps backwards just the same
I try to relax
I turn off my TV
The sun on my back
I’m feeling anxious when it leaves
And I don’t need your tales of guilt to level me
I already have myself for that
Politicians aren’t concerned with you
There’s opportunities to take advantage of
But who am I but a thorn in your side
And by you I mean the foolish and the wise
The ground is shifting under me
What was once concealed is now apparently full grown
Reaching out to pull you in
It stops at nothing but we’re used it
The victims now ash
Scattered by the wind
They never came back
Ending where we must begin
And I don’t need your tales of guilt to level me
I’m strung out on the angst that I inherited from you
Politicians aren’t concerned with you
