I Struck A Match Lyrics

Went to a party with my boyfriend

We were dancing to our favorite song

Then he turned off the lights and he walked away

Said he wouldn't be gone to long

I struck a match and there he was - kissing her

I struck a match and there he was - holding her

It took the match to catch him doing me wrong

Now it was dark and I couldn't see her face

But I saw her hittin' on my guy

A lot of the kids were dancing and having fun -

But I couldn't do a thing but cry

I struck a match and I saw him kissing her

I struck a match and I saw him holding her

It took a match to catch he was doing me wrong

I wiped away the tears and I turned my hands so no one could see

But, my girlfriend heard me crying, asked me

So, I said; ‘amen’ for me

The lights went on at the party

And my boyfriend came right to my side

He said he went for a soda

I said; ‘honey, I know you lied’

Cause I struck a match

And I saw you kissing her

I struck a match

And I saw you holding her

It took a match to catch

He was doing me wrong

(Instrumental break)

Cause I struck a match

And I saw you kissing her

I struck a match

And I saw you holding her

It took a match to catch

You were doing me wrong

(Fade out)

Doing me wrong

Doing me wrong

Yes, doing me wrong
