Marty Cain Weighing Me Down
early this morning
i read the paper
i sipped my coffee without a sound
as bombs were dropped on countries
whose names i can't pronounce
sometimes life
seems like a cake
slippin' through the layers of illusion that you bake
my mind is trippin' on these verbs and these nouns
i think i'll take a walk downtown
weighing me down
there's something keeping me from going downtown
weighing me down
i'm confused by these scents and these sounds
weighing me down
these thoughts are weights holding me to the ground
weighing me down
i know that i gotta stick around
breathe in the air
the wind in my hair
center of the universe isn't even there
i searched and i looked
through libraries of books
hopin' it'd be together like knights and rooks
