Koufax Colour Us Canadian

We didn’t think very hard
about where we came from.
And how that in itself
could do us so wrong.
We didn’t bother to learn
anyone else’s language.
You don’t need many words
for a drunk conversation.
As we traveled through
each foreign land.
We heard their jokes,
and we wanted in.
So, we called ourselves Canadian.
Yeah, colour us Canadian.
uh-ah-uh-ah-uh-ah-oh
We’re all stopped
at the boarder.
No one’s getting through.
This passport once was golden-
guess that’s no longer true.
It wasn’t drugs nor cash-
all that used to matter.
It was a simple stare
and we know not to feel flattered.
As we traveled through
each foreign land.
We heard their jokes,
and we wanted in.
So, we called ourselves Canadian.
Yeah, colour us Canadian.
Yeah, when did it all go wrong?
I’d like to know.
Just, when did it all go wrong?
I’d like to know.
We’d call ourselves Canadian.
Oh, colour us Canadian.
As we traveled through
each foreign land.
We heard their jokes,
and we wanted in.
So, we called ourselves Canadian.
Anything but American.
