The red sun of summer burns the desert sands
The lourney of the outlaw across the barren lands
Galloping fast in horseback, hooves echo in the hills
To escape a sheriff’s posse who chase a man that kills
Clad in denim black, his forehead bleeds with sweat
Searching for some water to keep his whistle wet
The lawmen close behind him hasten up their pace
The outlaw and the noose are in their fatal race

In the misty mountains the air smokes with heat
A fugitive and his horse collapse into a heap
They find their beaten foe, no longer on the loose
And slip his battered neck into the deadly noose
Whip the horse’s ass, the outlaw fals off his back
Dangling from a rope, hear his neck bones crack
Legs are kicking wildly, rope digs way to bone
The lifeless body hanging heaves its dying moan
