Dogs Of My Neighborhood Lyrics

Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage Dogs Of My Neighborhood

I've never had a dog but I'm not living isolatedly
Wherever I go walk I spot a different dog awaiting me
I know ‘em all, the pepper, salt, and red, yellow or platinum
Although I'd never halt or ever said hello or started pattin' ‘em

Dogs of my neighborhood
Dogs of my neighborhood

I don't know related names although each one's got names to me
And each associated to some neighbor, store, or family
There goes Dancing Pete and here comes Market mutt and Lego-Mug
There goes Fancy-Feet and here comes Target-Cut and Mega-Slug

Dogs of my neighborhood
Dogs of my neighborhood

I've never had a dog but that's not quite like never knowing any
There's several city parks, like right below my window, where there's plenty
I watch ‘em from afar when they're out walking, sniffing trouble, barking
I watch ‘em from my car in morning alternate side double parking
Walking to the compost drop i keep totals of dogs out trotting
It's got my almost top priority, the local dogs I'm spotting
They've appealed to me this way for a good or poor all my whole life
Feels more like a real neighborhood to know the local wildlife

Dogs of my neighborhood
Dogs of my neighborhood

It's not like I could have my own, I go on tour, they'd be alone
But it's enough to see ‘em roam around the stores around my home
Plus I don't have to feed or walk ‘em train or take ‘em to the vets
I only have to gawk and stalk ‘em to complete my need for pets
I know ‘em all, the pepper, salt, and red, yellow or platinum
Although I'd never halt or ever said hello or started pattin' ‘em
I watch ‘em from afar when they're out walking, sniffing trouble, barking
I watch ‘em from my car in morning alternate side double parking
