I saw that same old man in the corner, of the Happy Days Cafe.
He always looked like he was waiting on someone.
He said, "Damn this winter is getting colder",
As empty as he stared at the door.
So I pulled up a chair, and said, "Hello.
I hope that you don't mind me asking, who you waiting for?".
He said, "I'd lost sight of who I used to be,
Before this emptiness washed over me,
And her angel eyes set my soul free.
It was a cold day in December, when the sun huddled up when it ever
been.
She wore here life like a worn coat, on the back of the chair she was
sitting in.
She said her name was Sarah Jane.
With that moment my life was never the same.
She had a sparkle in her eyes, from some other place.
The years had worn such sweet lines on her face.
Perfect photograph, with beauty and grace.
She was a treaure placed into my hands.
Don't care much for fate or circumstance.
I should have told her when I had the chance.
It's been a year today, and funny that you asked.
Winter is getting cold, I don't know how long I'll last.
But waiting for the lady with the silver in her hair.
To pour back through that door, and sit down in that chair.
