I'm sorry I've waited much too long.
I've been living out of bins,
I've been sleeping in -
I've been getting nothing done.
So in our room, too small,
I'll act unbearable,
I'll change and lose my cool.
Without a plan or pretense,
I'll appear relentless, cowardly, and cold.
But while you've been gone, I've been returning at all hours of the night.
While you've been gone, I've been crossing fingers that you have a nice flight back home.
I'm sorry I haven't seemed so strong.
Through a blanket of arguing, you'll see -
It's not you, it's me.
It's a list of excuses a mile long,
But the bottom line here is
I need out of this tired apartment,
creating resentment and driving us apart.
But while you've been gone, I've been returning at all hours of the night.
