Your smoky eyes they stare through me
With certainty yet disbelief
The bluest blue I've ever felt
Washes over this old heart
Taken back through other times
When the wish you wanted granted was
Something I held softly in my pocket
Innocence left with no goodbye
Innocence in itself a lie
I've called that number many times
I've driven on that road for miles
Every hello turns a sad goodbye
Every I love you to cry I Love you turns into crying eyes
Can't fall in love though it's always been in my heart
I just cannot be
The one who keeps you safe
The one who has you believe in love forever after
And I just cannot care anymore
Have I given all my love?
Has what I've given been not enough?
Is it something we just leave out to be stolen
One time time didn't heal the wound
And That ghost has never left my room
Is it simply just too crowded now for another?

Just looking for a story, something “ours”
Something to hold in times of weakness
Just a prayer, a hope
A simple glimpse of a guiding light
Just looking for some truth
To battle all the lies that showed themselves
I'm one of them I have always been

I've lived one too many bad clichés
