Sand Lyrics

Glass Hammer Sand

Gliding along looking down on accustomed
Yet strange terrain
Seeing myself from below, looking up
Looking down and back again

There is place at the back of my mind
Behind the door
In a room that seems to move around
Will I go looking for

Something under a pile of old magazines
Forgotten photos, I'm not sure
There is something I'm not getting
It's right there but I'm not seeing

When I turn to see it's gone
Shadows of times when I was young
Or times that have not yet come
Feelings from any time but presently
Sent running through a sieve

Floating away, just a drop swirling down a drain
One tiny, cosmic neutron misfiring
In the epileptic, galactic rain
I can see it fast retreating
It's behind me, like heart beating
When I turn to see it's gone
Shadows of times when I was young
Or times that have not yet come
Feelings from any time but presently
Sent running through a sieve

I can feel the grass is greener
The sun is warmer
I wish I knew if I was there or
If it's just a dream

Closing the doors in my mind to the rooms
Where I won't go
Tidying up all of the slips of paper that I
Would never show myself
