Ode To The Cynic Lyrics

Fall Of Man Ode To The Cynic

So bright is the daylight sky,
Yet there’s the old man searching with a lamp inside
the crowd.

[Cynic:]
‘’I’m trying to find a man.
I’m trying to find a man
With honesty in his heart in this dark mob.
I hope this lamp will be of service.’’
‘’The mob’s the mother of tyrants’’,
The old man used to say,
Countless times in night and day.
It wasn’t long before he met one.
Enlightened people said he was.
King of Kings he would become,
But the old man had no illusion about Kings.

One day a young Prince did approach
The old man’s humble home and he said:
‘’would you have a wish for me to grant you?”

[Cynic:]
‘Stand out of the way!
Stand a little less between me and the sun.
This is all that I ask of you’’

Amazed by the Cynic’s stunning words,
The young prince walked away with doubt inside his
head.
He recalled another of the cynic’s saying:
‘’He has the most, who is content with the least’’

[King:]
‘’If my soul should have the chance to choose again
Between a life of glory and fame
And one of humble birth that offers peace of mind,
wisdom and truth,
I hope my soul will remember the precious words of the
Cynic’’

One day a young Prince did approach
The old man’s humble home and he said:
‘’Would you have a wish for me to grant you?”

[Cynic:]
‘’I’ve nothing to ask but, that you would move to the
other side,
So by intercepting the sunlight,
You don’t take from me what you can’t give.‘’
