I remember it like the day I was born.
You strolled into the room.
I suddenly felt warm.
For the first time in my life I was whole.
You held up your chin with your eyes so wide
Clinging to me and promised you'd try
To be everything I could ever need.
You didn't know that you already were.
Those movie marathons ran past our bedtimes.
They would end in pillow fights, on our backs, with lips
pressed tight.
Regardless, you read through etched curves on my notebook
There is beauty in routine.
So would you breathe in harmony with me?
"How I wish I was yours. How I wish you were mine.
Please let me hold those pretty wide eyes."
I swear to you that we'll be absolute.
A week later it's two in the morning
You're lying in my lap.
I know that I'm going to break
Unless you kiss me on the cheek and tell me I'm your
everything.
I've never heard it before.
It reminds me of how beautiful the world can be.
