Death Is Not Glamorous Wide Eyes
Every blade of grass moved as our car sped by doing 65
and we were packed in staring out the window, smiling wide.
We drove into a tunnel and emegered into the spring
towards warmer days and new-cracked smiles, bluer skies and better things.
And even though another foot of snow has fallen in the past 24,
I know that spring's around the bend.
And even though the city's frozen over for another night,
I know new winds are on their way, it's just a matter of time.
But that never happened, did it? And though I kept my eyes open,
in the city wind, I couldn't see shit.
And in the morning we left, back in the back seat.
