Well I never paid attention when I was a young boy
To the great instructions from the ones that came before me
Now that I'm older I long to pay attention
But it doesn't seem like anyone is saying much of anything
Well there's a piece of me that loves all this sadness
That loves for onlookers to call me tragic
But buried underneath all the women and the booze
Is a man that I know who's ashamed at what I choose
Well I believe in God and I believe he wants me to believe in me
So what's it gonna take to make this stop

All the strength inside my bones to let it go to let it drop
