Our Moment of Truth
is my mind playing tricks on me
or did i just see a flicker of love in your eyes
is my imagination getting away from me
or did i just see a flicker of love in your eyes
when our eyes met i felt a mutual understanding
somehow we both knew it was our moment of truth
when our fantasies collided with reality
a shared epiphany if you will
a moment when we both knew
that we were meant to be together
even if it didn't make sense
even if it wasn't part of the plan
we thought we'd found love at least
once or twice before but then
our paths crossed and everything changed
because it didn't compare to
anything we'd ever known before
our moment of truth

when we could no longer deny
to ourselves what we
already knew in our hearts
that we had finally found
our one true love
a reawakening of memories
of someone we had conjured up
a long, long time ago
somehow, we both forgot
what we really wanted in a partner
due to practicalities
so we buried our burning passion
until it broke free on it's own

and it finally did
despite our best efforts
to keep our feelings
under lock and key
