Crash Monument Our Beach
This breeze, the smell of sea, sunset.
The walk down to the sand, all we ever look forward to.
The kids, the school of fish, footprints.
The lifeguard stand, it all reminds me of what we used to have.
Do you remember when I promised you
that house on the hill were you said we’d have this every day.

that you were for real and I said I want this for the rest of my days.
It’s funny how things can change
and now I’m left with meaningless carvings on the stand,
a trace of my own steps on the sand.
