said lucy and waved a cuban cigar
and cleaned out the bar before she turned my way
This was back in the days when my hair was long
and I had my songs of beauty and grace
And I was alone just passing my time,
waiting in line for anyone to come and take me along
So lucy could pull a cloud from her hair
and softly the air turned hopeful
We would float in the streets and lay in the parks
we traded our marks with millions to meet,
and dying my hair in my time of dyin'
I looked at the sign, it said 'you best beware, boy'
She would pick up my blues with her amber greens among
the machines, the noise, the abuse I'm telling you this

As I try to pull these scenes from the screen
